Teresa and Joe: Because everybody else is talking about it…

It's the topic on every Real Housewives fans lips. The sentencing of New Jersey housewife Teresa Guidice and her husband Joe.

In case you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard, the housewife and her husband have been sentenced to prison. Teresa will serve a fifteen month prison sentence whilst Joe will serve a forty-one month prison sentence. I’m sure you know the details. If you don’t, read all about it at irealhousewives.
So, what’s my view on the topic? Well, I can see both sides of the story. I truly believe that Teresa signed whatever was put in front of her without ever thinking twice about it. I come from an Italian background and Teresa is old school Italian, in her belief that the husband knows what’s best for the family. Teresa wouldn’t think her husband would do anything wrong, so she went along. Joe knew exactly what he was doing, but I think Teresa was a little clueless before they were charged.
That being said, I do think Teresa shouldn’t have to serve a prison sentence and I do think that her prison sentence should have been added to Joe’s jail time. Joe was the one who organised all of these fake loans, he just used Teresa’s name to do it, because quote “she had better credit”.
The judge has said that she was using the couple as an “example” that just because you’re famous, doesn’t mean you’re going to get away with something. Personally, that’s not what justice is about. Punish somebody for their crimes, not to show other “celebrities” that they’re not going to get away with any criminal acts. And they’re not A-list celebrities. They’re reality TV stars.
They did wrong, they know it, and they’re being punished for it. You can say they deserve it or you can totally disagree but as the old saying goes, if you do the crime, you must do the time. Unfortunately, the Giudices are doing their time but I think we can all agree, Teresa should have received a house arrest sentence.
Until next time… keep watching!
